Ellecia Saffron

Ellecia is an equity investment professional with over 12 years' experience in equity investment; forming and managing equity portfolios including the process and research surrounding this.

Ellecia is currently the Chairman of the Australian Business Group Abu Dhabi for which she has sat on the Board for six years. This has resulted in her leading the formation of many strategic information and business events in Abu Dhabi including but not limited to; Energy update and oil outlook with Energy and Economic advisor to the Executive Affairs Authority "EAA", A Food security event in the context of the UAE with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs representative and Head of the International Renewable Energy group "Irena" and WA minister for Agriculture, A strategic update from the CEO of the National Bank of Abu Dhabi "NBAD" and an update on the 2030 Vision plan for Abu Dhabi by the Department of Economic Development. She is currently on the steering committee that is setting up an Umbrella group to sit above, connect and create a common platform for all the Australian Business Groups in the region.

In addition to this, Ellecia also sits on the US based Alignment of Interests Board which is designed to create a governance and common alignment between Hedge Fund investors and managers.

A strong believer in community, once nominated by her school for Young Australian of the year for community service work , she is an active advocate and supporter of diversity in strategic and decision making teams. Ellecia has a Bachelor of Business majoring in International Business and Investment Management from the University of Technology Sydney and an MBA from the University of Wales, United Kingdom for which her thesis – a study measuring for a link in diversity in the upper echelons management teams and the financial performance of listed equity companies, received honours.

Formerly, Ellecia was a Portfolio manager at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority "ADIA" managing direct investment, listed equity portfolios in the Global Internal Equities department. Within this, she managed directly a long only "Australia" portfolio formed and led a "Global Materials" sector portfolio and was a portfolio manager team member in an "Asia ex Japan" mandate. She also formed and led a global commodities research group - extending this to an informal network of similar investors across the region.
